Chepino State Hunting Area

Located in the picturesque Chehlovo area in the Western Rhodopes, the State Hunting Area Chepino is about 25 km from Velingrad and approximately 130 km from Sofia.

Its location makes it easily accessible for hunters from across the country.

The reserve spans a total area of 34,481 hectares, with 90% of its forests composed predominantly of deciduous trees. The region’s elevation ranges from 800 to 2,200 meters above sea level, contributing to the rich diversity of wildlife that calls this area home.

The primary game species in the region include red deer, wild boar, wild goat, brown bear, and capercaillie. The reserve is also renowned for its successful combination hunts for capercaillie, roe deer, and wild boar.

The best trophies harvested in the Chepino Hunting Area include: Red deer with a trophy weight of 11.1 kg, Wild boar with tusks measuring 24.5 cm, Wild goat scoring 110 CIC points.

Chepino Hunting Area offers excellent accommodations for its guests. The main base is located in the “Kara Tepe” locality, where visitors can enjoy comfortable bungalows equipped with all necessary amenities. The base also features a dining room.
