Shabla Tuzla
Shabla Tuzla is a salt lake – a lagoon formed by the infiltration of salty seawater beneath the sand dunes mixed with freshwater underground sources. It is located about 5 km northeast of Shabla.
Shabla Tuzla covers an area of approximately 250 decares, with a depth reaching up to 0.7 meters. It is separated from the sea by a sandbar with an average width of about 100 meters.
The lagoon is covered with salt-tolerant plants, making it an exceptionally favorable coastal environment that supports a diverse plant and animal ecosystem, including rare and protected species listed in the Red Book of Bulgaria.
Various bird species nest in the area, attracting ornithologists and bird photography enthusiasts.
The conditions in the lagoon favor the formation of mud, which, due to millennia of accumulation, has acquired unique healing properties.
