Abrasive Wells (Sheytan Dere)

The abrasive wells are part of the Sheytan Dere canyon, located after the Studen Kladenets Dam.

The rocks in the area are the result of solidified volcanic lava from the nearby long-extinct St. Ilia volcano. These natural formations are various-sized holes carved by the waters of the Arda River in the softer rock areas.

The wells range in size, with diameters from a few centimeters to about 10 meters, and some reach depths of up to 15 meters. They are a favored spot for fish and the birds that hunt them.
