Zlaten Rozhen Wine Cellar, Златен Рожен

The wine cellar, located in the village of Kapatovo at a distance of 20 km south of Sandanski and 19 km from the picturesque village of Rozhen, was built near the vineyards in a land property of approximately 4,000 square meters.

The winery is a modern architectural complex, with a fully closed production cycle, starting from the cultivation of grapes and ending with an elegant bottle of wine. The cellar is equipped with state-of-the-art fermentation facilities with the capacity to optimize and control all processes of vinification, maturing, stabilization and bottling of wines. It processes the grapes yielded from the vines, reaching an output of more than 150 tons annually.

The cellar is equipped with the most cutting-edge technology for the production of selected red and white wines, as well as of rose, whose style and finesse result from the strict quality control of each grape batch.

Relying on the traditions in winemaking in combination with the exceptional terroir, which contributes to the specific tastes and aromas for the region, we can offer quality, attractive and memorable wines, which meet the increasing requirements of connoisseurs of fine Bulgarian wines.

Zlaten Rozhen Wine Cellar will surprise you with its unique selection of traditional and new wine brands with a diversity of tastes and aromas, with excellent qualities and at competitive prices. With attention to each and every grain, with immense love and skill, combining the traditions of this wine region with new trends and technologies in winemaking, we give you the opportunity to enjoy our wine masterpieces. Our team’s objective is to create high quality boutique wines, which will fascinate anyone who tastes them with their exquisite taste.

Trying to find the balance between tradition and new technologies, we have built our wine cellar as an integral complex.

Terroir

Southwestern Bulgaria is the warmest Bulgarian region and is a unique vine growing and winemaking region in the country. Located in the furthest southern part of the country, it is characterized by a hilly terrain and high annual temperatures.

Vineyard

The winery has its own vine plot of 800 decares with a vine density of 460 vines per decare. After surveying and examining the region in terms of soil, climate and air currents, we chose to create a vineyard in the region of the Struma river valley – a region with time-honored traditions in winemaking determined by the outstanding soils and plentiful sunshine.

The following varieties dominate our vine array structure: Merlot, Cabernet and the particularly last word Syrah variety. The typical regional Melnik 55, Melnik Ruby and the emblematic Broad Melnik Vine for the region since ancient times have not been neglected either.

The location of each variety is selected according to the soil characteristics of both vine plots and the characteristics of the particular vines. We apply the best cutting-edge agricultural technologies to yield top quality grapes. Vine pruning is specific for each vine variety. The outstanding quality of our cultivated grapes as our raw material is the first prerequisite and guarantee for making the perfect wine.

Wine tours

True connoisseurs and lovers of high quality wines can be initiated in the mystery of winemaking by going through the entire production process of Zlaten Rozhen Wine Cellar. The winery has high quality equipment, a modern laboratory and a state-of-the-art bottling line.

Following the division into two units, visitors can follow the trail of wine from grape-gathering to maturing in oak barrels in the production unit. Grapes arrive at the ground level of the cellar, where they undergo initial processing. Part of our wine matures in oak barrels and ages in bottles in a specially developed underground section, which features natural constant temperature and humidity levels.
